Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Roadmap
Below is a Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Roadmap presented by Ubisoft during Six Invitational 2020 in February 2020:
Rainbow Six Siege has been out for 5 years now and we have a healthy number of available maps.
Maps in Siege are complex and are one of the main reasons for a steep learning curve for new players.
Instead of producing new maps and leaving existing ones unplayable on a competitive level, it makes more sense to rework original maps that were released years ago.
The other frequently discussed aspect of Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Roadmap is a plan of releasing 6 new operators, instead of 8.
In r6siegecenter.com we are not against this decrease. We would prefer to see fewer high-quality, well thought out and balanced operators, instead of a bunch of forced implementations that would bring little to the table.
Does it mean you get less bang for the buck when buying Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 Season Pass? Yes, the renown to cash conversion from access to operators’ perspective is less appealing.

What Else to expect in Year 5:
Improved ping system inspired by an innovative approach to in-game callouts mechanics in Apex Legends
Possibility for players to vote which maps they don’t want to play.
A system allowing players to record a whole match and re-watch it from the perspective of ANY player. Huge for the competitive side of Siege!
Larger events (like Haloween) will come to Siege with their own playlists. The first announced playlist will be “Golden Gun” TDM.
Interesting idea of Ubisoft to encourage fair play, teamwork, and tactical approach to Rainbow Six Siege. Simultaneously developer plans to punish toxic behavior.
Rainbow Six Siege: Year 5 Season 2
Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 continues with the second season called Operation Steel Wave.

No, not at all. Season Pass is absolutely optional.
You do not need SP to enjoy everything that R6 Siege has to offer. No gameplay feature is hidden behind Season Pass.
We view Season Pass as a convenience purchase and a way to help to support further development of the game.
We think that you may want to consider Season Pass if you:
- got some spare money
- play Rainbow Six Siege a lot
- are a player who enjoys buying cosmetics
- value not worrying about saving up Renown for new operators
- appreciate early access to operators
You do not need Season Pass to play new Rainbow Six Siege operators released in Year 5.
Every Siege player can purchase new operators with Renown (in-game currency). Bear in mind that new R6 operators are quite expensive (25,000 Renown). Therefore, it will take a considerable amount of time to unlock all Year 5 operators.
You should be able to unlock all Year 5 operators while playing Rainbow Six Siege for like 25-30 hours a month. Though, with that amount of playtime, you won’t have enough Renown to unlock additional cosmetics.
Season Pass does not include the base game. Therefore, you need to have a base R6 Siege game to enjoy perks of Season Pass.
Answer to that question depends on the perk you are focused on.
Immediately available after purchasing Season Pass are:
- Seasonal Skin – Aurous Alabaster (universal weapon skin)
- Jager Byte Set
- Hexagonal Charm
- VIP status – renown boost, in-game shop discount & alpha pack boost
On the other hand, Early Access to Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 operators depends on their release and when you buy the Season Pass.
a) You buy Season Pass in April 2020. As a result, you will get immediate access to new R6 operators released in Year 5 Season 1 – namely Oryx & Iana.
You will not have immediate access to the remaining 4 operators coming out later in 2020.
b) You purchase Season Pass in August 2020. Hence you will get instant access to Year 5 Season 1 & Season 2 operators released earlier this year while having to wait for the release of the remaining operators 7 days before the season starts.
If you have Rainbow Six Siege purchased on Uplay, then you should buy Season Pass (or any additional Siege bundles) via Uplay store, too.
As far as we know, you won’t be able to purchase additional content on Steam without owning the base game on Valve’s platform, as well.
